This year, Maine chose not to have any in-person debate meets and, though it is certainly a different experience, this means that we were able to have a fairly normal season without any cancellations! Yarmouth Debate's third year since its reestablishment after a decade-long hiatus was a very eventful one! Many new members joined the team, including the addition of an assistant coach, Grace, who joins Mr. Russell as another Yarmouth Debate alumni leading the team. Overall, Yarmouth won five out of the six regular season meets and came in second place in the state championship, losing by only two points. Several members, led by Oscar O'Donnell, made an exciting transition from Congressional into Lincoln Douglass Debate this year (and Josh Leinwand is now the State Novice LD Champion!), and Yarmouth currently has three students who have qualified for a national competition (Maddy Corson, Kate Siegel, and Mary Psyhogeos). With two more post-season meets remaining, Yarmouth Debate is excited to close out a successful year.
