Are you tired of pizza and burgers? Are you feeling a little trapped in Yarmouth and need to experience something new? Travel thirty minutes up the coast to Brunswick and enjoy a delicious sushi experience at Little Tokyo.
When you walk in you are greeted by smiling faces ready to seat you at one of the small square tables placed inside. A beautiful bar with a hip roof associated with traditional Japanese architecture is the main focal point of Little Tokyo as it allows customers to see the chefs prepare the sushi as well as creates a more open concept. The dim lights overhanging each table look like delicate wood carved lanterns with ornate designs carved on them. These fixtures create a mellow and welcoming atmosphere for the customer to enjoy their meal at.
To start, get the house salad which has small tomatoes and a tangy dressing to die for . For drinks, you must try the mango bubble tea which is a thick sweet mango juice with dozens of tapioca balls at the bottom of the glass that send bursts of flavor when they squoosh between your teeth.
As another starter, get the pan fried dumplings which come with a house soy sauce and a spicy peanut sauce to dip in. For my meal, I got the teriyaki steak; it was amazing. When served, you will see how big the steak is. It is well seasoned and cut in perfect strips. This meal is pricey, but worth every dollar.
Another person in my party got the vegetarian sushi which consisted of tempura fried vegetables as well as a crunchy outside shell of seaweed. Trying only a couple bites, I could tell the vegetables were freshly fried and the overall roll was filled with flavor.
This is a wonderful place that has many options for everyone and the staff makes sure that service is fast and your meal comes out quickly. While this will not be the cheapest option, this will be one of the tastier food options in the area.
Unlike many other restaurants that offer a takeout menu only, Little Tokyo allows the consumer to purchase whatever they wish that is on the inperson menu as well. They are super efficient when it comes to pick up times and strictly follow all Maine mandates from Janet Mills’ current rules.
So, if you are looking for good food and a little trip from your everyday life, head up to Little Tokyo.
